The idea of family has changed considerably in recent years. A family can no longer be defined as consisting of a mother, a father and their biological children. Families today are much more complex and the traditional idea of the nuclear family, while it still exists, now sits alongside extended families, step families, adopted families and single parent families and same sex families.
One thing that hasn't changed is the fact that family relationships still breakdown and people find themselves in need of advice on a wide range of issues following the break-up of a relationship, whether it be a marriage or a partnership. We aim to minimise conflict and our main priority is to try and reach agreement in the interests of all the parties whenever possible.
